MOSAIC TERMINOLOGY

SOURCE IMAGE The source image is the picture that you choose to use as the main image from which the mosaic will be created from. This image will be "broken down" into blocks (also called cells). When the mosaic is viewed from a distance, this is the picture you will recognize. When choosing the picture you would like to use as the source image, concentrate on items/people that fill-up a larger portion of the picture. Small details, and background items will not be very visible in the final mosaic.
MOSAIC or PHOTO-MOSAIC This is the final image that is created from your pictures. When viewed from a distance, the source image is visible. When viewed up close, the cells (your picture collection) will be visible.
CELLS The cells are the individual pictures (or blocks) that make-up the mosaic. The individual pictures are supplied by you and would probably share a common theme, but they do not have to. For example, if you would like us to create a wedding mosaic, then you would want to obtain any pictures taken throughout the day which reflect the entire event, right from the groom/bride's house up until the end of the ceremony.
SOURCE THUMBNAIL If you wish, a copy of the source image can be placed in a corner of the mosaic. There is no charge to add this to the mosaic, and can be placed there by personal preference. By default, we would add this to the mosaic; placing it in the corner we choose based on design.
